  2. Cushing's syndrome: rib fracture. 
  3. Spontaneous asymptomatic rib fractures are characteristic of Cushing's syndrome and this coned view shows the typical appearance. Multiple rib fractures are surrounded by excessive callus formation. In some patients, in addition to obvious rib fractures, characteristic widening of the anterior ends of the ribs resulting from numerous stress infractions may be seen.
